Pakistan Readymade Garment sector once again reported an increase in export during July 2017 to May 2018 period. During the period under review, the country’s readymade garment export reported a 13 per cent increase to US $ 2.345 billion as compared to US $ 2.075 billion in the corresponding period last year. The data has been revealed by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
During the period, the country exported around 38,195 thousand dozens of readymade garments as compared to 31,584 thousand dozens, in the corresponding period last year.
A total of around 98,783 thousand dozens knitwear items were exported during the period under review as compared to 93,644 thousand dozens items with face value of US $ 2.106 billion in the corresponding period last year.
Bedwear segment also reported an increase of 6.65 per cent to US $ 2.055 billion as compared to 1.927 billion in the same period last year. A total of 338,377 metric tons of bedwear was exported from the country during the reporting period. The figure stood 320,998 metric tons during the same period of last year, added PBS.
A 1.66 per cent increase in towels’ export to US $ 736.924 million from US $ 724.863 million was also reported during this period.
The textile group exports from Pakistan reported an increase of 9.82 per cent to US $ 12.336 billion during the reporting period from US $ 11.232 billion in same period previous fiscal.
