Pakistan has clocked US $ 9.38 billion worth of textile exports, noting 26.05 per cent Y-o-Y surge during July-December period of FY ’22.
The data, released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), further states that all textile commodities except tents, canvas and Tarpulin have witnessed Y-o-Y growth in the first 6-month period of FY ’22.
Cotton yarn exports increased by 52.33 per cent to US $ 610.427 million in the mentioned period, while the exports of cotton fabrics increased by 21.35 per cent to US $ 1.13 billion.
PBS data further shows that the exports of knitwear have increased by 35.21 per cent in July-December period from US $ 1.85 billion to US $ 2.50 billion, growing by over 35 per cent.
In addition, the exports of bed wear increased to US $ 1.66 billion, showing growth of 19.04 per cent, and readymade garments by 22.93 per cent to US $ 1.83 billion.
The only textile commodity that witnessed negative growth export was tents, canvas and Tarpulin. The exports of this category decreased by 9.18 per cent – from US $ 62.47 million in July-December (2020-2021) to US $ 56.74 million in the corresponding period of FY ’22.
Meanwhile, on Y-o-Y basis, the textile exports increased by 15.89 per cent during the month of December 2021 as compared to the same month of last year. The exports during December 2021 were recorded at US $ 1.62 billion.
