Fearing delayed shipments as political impasse continues to plague Bangladesh; few buyers have stalled work orders although samples were approved. The reports say that the buyers are now looking at placing smaller orders quantities around June. The standoff, if continues, will leave the manufacturers with no work orders for the month to come. According to Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), in 14 days of political unrest, the RMG sector incurred a loss of about US $ 90 million in the form of discounts, order cancellation, air shipment and production hampering. “The global buyers are watching Bangladesh’s political situation through media and holding back orders. They are taking time to decide how much order they will place in this situation,” said Abus Salam Murshedy, MD, Envoy Textile and ex-president, BGMEA.
