
Odisha’s skill development initiatives for improving the employability of its youth are set to receive Rs. 660 Crore from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Looking at broadening the base of initiatives and backing them with qualitative infrastructure and facilities, ADB’s funds will be crucial in setting up of 14 ITIs and several multi disciplinary centres under the six-year plan which will commence in FY 2015-16. Though it is planned to train 2 lakh individuals annually for nine sectors, the exact figures for textile and apparel sectors have not been stated. The project will be undertaken by Odisha State Employment Mission (OSEM) with an estimated cost of Rs. 1,050 crore, of which the State Government will contribute Rs. 390 crore.
