Bangladesh’s Minister for Housing and Public Works Engineer Mosharraf Hossain has recently assured of land to organise international trade and export fairs in Chittagong.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the closing ceremony at the recently concluded month-long Bangladesh International Trade and Export Fair in Chittagong, Hossain said, “We have provided a 30-acre land at Purbachal in Dhaka for international trade and export fair. Likewise, we are thinking of providing a land in Chittagong for the same purpose.”

The Minister further informed that after the then president of the Chittagong Abahani Club Shamsul Haque Chowdhury (who is now a ruling party MP) applied to the Government for a land, the previous government allotted the Abahani ground, where the trade fair has been held.
“The playgrounds are meant for matches, especially for football and cricket and not for any trade or similar fair. So the concerned club should organise matches on the ground round the year instead of holding trade fairs,” Hossain said.

Hossain, however, was of the opinion that the trade fair authorities could arrange fairs through which the club authority would earn money for running the club and matches in a better way.
Organised by the Chittagong Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CMCCI), Directors of the CMCCI and dignitaries from Bangladesh’s leading industrial conglomerates attended the closing ceremony.
Earlier on November 28, Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed inaugurated the Bangladesh International Trade and Export Fair.
