India’s apparel exports have regained pace in 2021, as indicated by official data, despite partial lockdown blues in the country and COVID-19 uncertainty in global markets.
According to Ministry of Commerce and Industry (India), the country clocked US $ 7.48 billion revenues from its apparel exports during January-June ’21, noting 36 per cent Y-o-Y increase.
The growth has been recorded due to strong recovery in the traditional markets such as USA and UAE, while exports to UK too revived decently.
Exports of apparels to USA valued US $ 2.08 billion, marking 37.11 per cent Y-o-Y surge. And, the second on the list, UAE imported US $ 1.13 billion worth of garments from India during H1 ’21, noting 87.33 per cent yearly growth.
What’s interesting is the recovery in woven apparel shipment to the UAE market. It’s evident from last one and half years that woven clothing isn’t generating any significant demand and consumers are weighing over knit products.
However, India’s woven clothing export to UAE noted 130.20 per cent Y-o-Y surge, as against 54.06 per cent growth that was registered in knitted garments export.
