
Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries (MSKVI) Board has framed the policy with an aim to increase employment for women and to improve khadi sales.
“Many of these products have for decades established the identity of the regions they are manufactured in. With the decline of these businesses, not just the identity of that region is lost but thousands of people associated with the industry lose employment too,” Deputy CEO of MSKVI Board Bipin Jagtap was quoted as saying.

MSKVI has been mulling cluster development for the promotion of khadi and other village industries in the state. It may be mentioned here that Maharashtra Government last year gave 130 solar charkhas to Scheduled Caste women associated with Kasturba Mahila Bachat Gat, a self-help group in Amravati
