
The time to join the big league of developing nations nearing, which would come with its own share of implications for exports including apparel shipments, Bangladesh has sought support from France in getting the GSP Plus trade privileges, after the LDC transition.
Media reports maintained this adding Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen sought the same while addressing the 50th anniversary of the France-Bangladesh diplomatic relations organised by France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB) as the chief guest, in Dhaka recently.
“On our part, Bangladesh welcomes France’s enhanced engagement and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region…,”reportedly, maintained the Foreign Secretary, adding, “There is a pressing need to further diversify our trade basket, especially our exports…”
The Foreign Secretary also, reportedly, praised the recent introduction of direct shipping between Chittagong and Ravenna Port in Italy while adding the same must be sustained, with addition of other European ports.
