
Bangladesh’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, praised South Korea as a remarkable investment and development partner.
She made this statement when Hee Sung, the the Chairman and CEO of Korea Export-Import Bank YOON, visited her at her Sangsad Bhaban office. Reporters were briefed by ABM Sarwer-e-Alom Sarker, the Prime Minister’s assistant press secretary, following the call.
Hasina thanked the Korean government for aid, which was increased from about US $ 300 million to US $ 400 million over five years to US $ 6 billion.
She expressed her gratitude to them for their generous sponsorship of important initiatives in Bangladesh.
Hee Sung, the chairman and chief executive officer of Korea Exim Bank YOON, conveyed his appreciation for having a face-to-face meeting with Prime Minister Hasina and his immense happiness with his productive tour to Dhaka.
Despite the ongoing political and economic challenges in the world, including the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, Bangladesh has managed to maintain its socio-economic development, GDP growth, and trajectory of development. These points were emphasised by the Chairman and CEO of Korean Export-Import Bank.
He applauded Hasina’s initiatives to end poverty and graduate fully from LDC by 2026.
With great promise for both countries’ future economic prospects, Yoon reiterated his commitment to advancing Korean trade and investment in Bangladesh.
The Korean delegation expressed satisfaction in supporting Bangladesh with US $ 6 billion to finance development projects and programs from 2023 to 2027 under EDCF (Economic Development Cooperation Fund) and EDPF (Economic Development Promotion Fund).
