Jordan is all set to hire more than 12,000 skilled garment workers from Bangladesh in one year for its apparel manufacturing industry.
This was reportedly disclosed by the Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen on 15 December (Tuesday), who went on to add that the recruitment for the same will be processed only through BOESL or Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited.
This is a good opportunity for us, reportedly underlined the Foreign Minister while adding that the head of mission at the Bangladesh embassy in Jordan informed him that a large RMG manufacturer there was keen to hire workers from Bangladesh and the employer and his team would visit the country (Bangladesh) soon.
As per media reports which cited sources within the Foreign Ministry, in Jordan, there are already around 20,000 skilled Bangladeshi RMG workers working apart from those that are engaged in the RMG sectors of other countries like Mauritius, Malaysia, Dubai, Ethiopia and Egypt.
Jordan has reportedly requested Bangladesh to allow hiring of skilled apparel workers who do not have passports, and facilitate providing the selected workers with passports in the shortest possible time, to which the concerned officials in Bangladesh reportedly assured they will do their best in processing and facilitating passports and other requirements in this regard.
