Jay Pee Knit Fab, a Faridabadbased apparel exporter, is set for a round of expansions to fuel its quest of doubling its turnover. Currently registering a turnover of INR 31 crore (US $ 5.1 million), Ajay Kak, CEO, Jay Pee Knit Fab, targets to reach a turnover of INR 60 crore (US $ 10 million) by 2017. The new factory, envisaged to be spread over an area of 50,000 sq. ft., will have 600 machines and shall be ready by the end of this year. “All the stitching machines will be from the Japanese manufacturer Pegasus. The knitting machines will be from the Japanese company Fukuhara, along with automatic cutting machines,” informs Ajay.
Given the scale of the new factory, the company also plans to set up an ERP system in it, which is not present in the current facility. Along with the new factory, there are plans of setting up a factory with the latest machines on half an acre plot in Faridabad as well, which have been given to the company by the Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation. The construction of this unit will start in January next year and is expected to finish by 2017. This unit will specially focus on knitting as there is a shortage of labour clusters in that area.

Although based in the NCR belt of manufacturers known for the hegemony of highfashion value-added woven ladies wear, Jay Pee Knit Fab manufactures valueadded women’s knitwear. The company has also established competence in products that have both – woven and knit fabric. With a strong background in knitting technology and a rich experience of working with the biggest vertical setups in the knitting industry, Ajay started with a 20-machine setup back in 1996 in Delhi’s Govindpuri area, and today has a vertically integrated setup with 425 sewing machines, spread over an area of 46,000 sq. ft.

The setup includes in-house sampling, computerized embroidery machine, Richpeace CAD machines and the latest addition being the digital printing machine by Epson. In order to avoid any sort of delay and keeping the production costs down, which helps it in competing with countries like China, the company has its own garment dyeing unit in Bahadurgarh, and it has also purchased knitting machines by Fukuhara, which come in handy to finish the orders on time. With this kind of setup, the company is currently able to produce 100,000 pieces per month.
Another specialty of Jay Pee Knit Fab is that they keep developing new types of fabrics to keep their buyers interested, for Ajay’s experience is of immense relevance. The company puts its best foot forward while dealing with the buyers with either designs made by own product design team or sometimes with already existing designs, which are shopped far from London.
