In a move to prevent more layoffs in the labour intensive businesses like textile and footwear industries, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and several ministries including the Trade Ministry, Industry Ministry, Manpower Ministry, Finance Ministry, and Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry are preparing to launch a help desk to solve the problems. The desk, to be located at the BKPM office, will identify problems experienced by companies and offer them the best applicable solutions. Companies facing mass layoffs can also ask the helpdesk to find financing assistance from state-lenders or to ask for more time to pay tax or electricity bills.
