Arun Jariwala, an Indian textile industry veteran breathed his last after prolonged illness at the age of 86 in Surat, Gujarat. Jariwala fondly called ‘bhismapitamah‘ of man-made fabric (MMF) sector is survived by 81-year-old wife Asha Jariwala and 53-year-old son, Ketan Jariwala.
Large number of people and well known persons from textile and diamond sectors of Surat attended his funeral held on Saturday. Jariwala served as Chairman of the Federation of Indian Art Silk Weaving Industry (FIASWI) for around 23 years. He is also credited with playing a vital role in establishing the Surat Art Silk Cloth Producers’ Cooperative Society Limited

He was also the President of Man Made Textile Research Association (MANTRA) and the Surat Technical Education and Research Society (STERS). His death is seen as big loss to the art silk industry of the country. He is known for working tirelessly throughout his life-time for providing greater heights to the MMF industry.
