The most common value-addition technique – embroidery is currently very much in demand. Be it export houses, job-workers, or machines suppliers…, every industry stakeholder is positive about the trend and increasing demand for embroidery.
“Overall market is slow but comparatively sale is good,” says Murari Lal Parasurampuria of Baba Textile Machinery, New Delhi, who is selling more than 1,000 embroidery machines per year and further expecting to vend 1,200 in next 12 months. According to him machines for plain embroidery is more in demand. Though in Delhi-NCR, machines with 15 or 18 heads are more in demand, the market is now changing slightly. Noida-based SK Embroideries has purchased an embroidery machine of 88 heads. It works as an option for schiffli machines. Demand for such machines is supposed to increase in the coming months. Additionally, as digital printing is also increasing its footprint, Baba Textile Machinery will start offering digital printing machines after one year. “As of now there is volume business for embroidery machines so we don’t have time to work properly to add digital printing machines,” says Murari Lal.

It may be mentioned here that job-workers are investing more in embroidery machines compared to in-house manufacturers. Working for top exporters, Satish Chand, Swastik Embroideries, a quality job-worker of Noida, is in process to expand. Currently having 12 multi-head embroidery machines, it is further looking to add four machines in next one year. This demand is not only in Delhi-NCR but also in other hubs like Jaipur too. Raj Kumar Sharma of Anjali Exports, Jaipur was recently present at a sourcing event in Spain and informed that embroidered garments were liked more by buyers there. Likewise, an export house having the niche of hand embroidery – Paramount Chikan Export, Lucknow is planning to add embroidery machines. Faiz S, Director of the company told, “Hand embroidery is as usual in demand but we have noticed increased demand for machine embroidery so we will add one or two multi-head machines as well which will help us to grow in export.” The company is expecting good growth this year…
