
At least 13 countries have been identified as ‘target markets’ by the Textile Ministry of India to increase export of products like handicrafts, jute, cotton, textiles and apparels from the country. European nations including Germany, France and Italy have been marked as ‘potential markets’ for cotton textiles and handicrafts.
The US is being seen as an appropriate market for the Indian apparels. Apparel accounts for the highest share of around 43 per cent of India’s total exports of T&C products.
Further, the Government plans to promote cotton and carpets in the Chinese market. The cotton textile category is one of the key segments of the Indian textile and apparel industry. It accounts for 27 per cent of India’s total textile and apparel exports.
Hong Kong, Turkey, Australia, Russia, the UAE, Brazil, Egypt and Chile have been spotted by the Ministry to showcase products through exhibitions. The initiative will further help in increasing the visibility and export of Indian products in these nations.
The Textile Ministry aims to enhance India’s market share in the global market by aligning the product with specific markets. It recently approved the Integrated Marketing Plan 2017-18 for participation in international fairs during the 2017-18 financial year.
B2B meetings, exhibitions, roadshows, etc. are also being planned by to tap new markets in the apparel world.
