Bangladesh is close to attaining self-sufficiency when it comes to sewing thread as hundreds of sewing-thread manufacturing units have come up in the country in the recent years.
Media reports maintained this adding as a result of this, garment makers in Bangladesh have been able to cut their dependency on the imported sewing thread and improve lead time.
Reports, citing industry people, further added that sewing thread sector witnessed an investment worth Taka 1,000 crore in the past decade.
“…we are meeting the rising demand in the domestic and international markets,” reportedly, maintained Syed Nurul Islam, Chairman of Well Group, which is one of the major sewing thread manufacturers in Bangladesh and went on to, reportedly, add the Group plans to invest in another factory to produce leather sewing thread since the leather and leather goods industry is coping up very strongly in Bangladesh.
