Bangladesh is open to exporting rawhides that would be procured from sacrificial animals this Eid-ul-Azha, if need be.
Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Sunday during a virtual meeting to fix the rawhide prices for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, underlined that an inter-ministerial committee would be formed to take a final decision on this but exporting rawhides is very much on the cards, if the same fails to get fair pricing at home.
Tipu Munshi also maintained that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been informed of the same.
Further, to prevent smuggling of animal skins across the border, vigilance will be increased, the Commerce Minister stressed adding measure will also be taken to ensure traders do not have to face any issues in transporting hides of the sacrificial animals.
