The President of the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh-the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has expressed hopes about further Bangladesh-Italy trade opportunities.
As per a press communique issued in this direction, Faruque Hassan expressed his optimism during his recent meeting with the newly appointed Trade Commissioner and Director of Trade Promotion Office of the Italian embassy Alessandro Liberatori even as they discussed the possible avenues of strengthening development cooperation and boosting bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Italy.
Underlining that the two countries have huge potential to derive mutual trade benefits that are yet to be tapped, the BGMEA chair reportedly told Alessandro Liberatori to encourage Italian businesses to invest in the emerging industrial sectors in Bangladesh, including non-cotton textiles even as he invited the Italian envoy to the ‘Made in Bangladesh Week’, scheduled to be held on 12th -18th November in Dhaka.
