The President of Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body of BGMEA has underlined the need for support from the Government and other concerned institutions, to make a quick recovery from the crisis the industry is currently faced with.
According to reports, Faruque Hassan, while maintaining the export-oriented apparel industry is going through a critical period due to the dual effect of the Coronavirus pandemic and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, called for support during a meeting with garment factory owners at the regional office of BGMEA in the port city of Chittagong recently.
While thanking the garment entrepreneurs for their contribution to the sector’s 35.47 per cent export growth in the last financial year despite all the difficulties, the BGMEA President reportedly said, “Our export trade has been volatile due to the inflation-ridden economic instability in Europe and America, which are our main export destinations.”
