
Starting year 2017 on a high note in apparel imports, the European Union (EU) could not maintain its pace and falls down sharply in the second month both in quantity and value.
The EU witnessed fall in value terms by 2.98 per cent collectively from January to February 2017 period as the Union failed to capitalize the momentum of January’s import both in knitted and woven apparel categories. Whereas, volume-wise imports too got affected and recorded negative growth of 4.80 per cent on year-on-year basis.

China, Bangladesh, India and Vietnam all the major exporters to EU fell in exports during the review period. On the other hand, Pakistan was up in its value-wise (positive 7.48 per cent) and volume-wise (positive 3 per cent) apparel exports to the EU on Y-o-Y basis.
