
The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has demanded the authorities to intervene into the illegal closure of garment factories without proper notice that left more than 150 women workers jobless. Members decided to handover their demands to the District Collector and Deputy Commissioner of Labour. At a meeting in Salem, presided by S.K. Thiyagarajan, State Vice-President of CITU, here recently, CITU officials urged the district administration and the Department of Labour to immediately intervene in the issue and solve it.
