
The President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has said apparel export from Bangladesh is likely to reach US$ 50 billion in 2022.
Media reports maintained this adding Faruque Hassan came up with the observation while visiting Chittagong Port on the occasion of arrival of container ship Songa Cheetah from Italy’s Porto di Ravenna.
The BGMEA chair said: “…last November and December, we exported nearly US$ 4 billion worth of garments a month,” adding, “We are hopeful we can touch the US $ 50 billion mark this year.”
Following the visit, the BGMEA President with other officials of the garment makers’ body attended a view exchange meeting organised by the Chittagong Port Authority to discuss various aspects of the recently started direct shipping route between Chittagong Port and Italy’s Porto di Ravenna.
