
In a recent move that is expected to help improve exports from Bangladesh, which has taken a major hit on account of the coronavirus pandemic lately, the Government has decided to appoint business development consultants to many developed countries including USA, UK, Japan and the Middle-East, in an effort to widen the export market.
According to media reports, the newly-appointed consultants who will be working under the supervision of commercial councilors in the respective countries, will be based in Tokyo (Japan), Los Angeles (USA), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and London (UK).
The Commerce Ministry, which reportedly convened a review meeting on the issue with its senior officials, is working to appoint business development/sales consultants to these countries.
The Government is sincerely working to explore new business opportunities in the wake of the pandemic, reportedly, underlined a concerned official while speaking to the media, adding that the Commerce Ministry has undertaken multiple measures already to increase the country’s export earnings.
It has initiated to sign agreements including FTA/PTA with a number of countries, the official further added.
