With Eid-ul-Azha all set to be observed on 1 August, there’s not much time left to disburse the workers’ salary and allowances following Government’s directive to all factory owners to pay Eid bonus to their workers by 27 July and half of the salary of the current month by 30 July.
Keeping the same in consideration, Bangladesh Bank has issued a circular recently directing branches of the scheduled banks at industrial areas that have readymade garment manufacturing units to remain open this Saturday, 25 July, to facilitate disbursal of workers’ salaries.
Scheduled bank branches located near garment industrial areas in Dhaka city, Chittagong, Bhaluka, Tongi, Narayanganj, Savar and Gazipur would remain open on Saturday to facilitate payment of bonus, salary and other allowances of garment workers and employees of RMG units, the Bangladesh Bank circular maintained.
