
Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) has elected Md Abdul Kader Khan as its president for 2016 and 2017. The election took place at the association’s 25th annual general meeting.
According to statement issued by the Association, Taslimuddin Chowdhury, Moazzem Hossain Moti, Nazimuddin Chowdhury, Hasanul Karim Tamiz have also been elected as the first vice-president, second vice-president, vice-president and vice-president (finance) respectively.

Operating since 1989, BGAPMEA is a non-profit trade organization created for the purpose of safeguarding the interests of garments, accessories and packaging manufacturers and exporters of Bangladesh.
Garments, Accessories and the Packaging industry employs more than 300,000 (3 lakh) people. Apparel packing is one of the most important parts of the garments manufacturing process, and acts as a backward linkage industry of the RMG sector.
The packaging sector of Bangladesh earned valuable foreign exchange to the tune of US$ 5.60 billion annually during the financial year 2014-15. With the boost in policy, the sector is likely to increase up to US$ 12 billion by the end of 2018, and to US$ 18 billion by the end of the year 2025.
