Leather and leather goods export from Bangladesh is set to increase significantly following Government’s decision to ship leather and leather goods worth US$ 12 billion overseas by 2030.
Media reports maintained this adding this was decided following detailed discussions with the stakeholders concerned even as the time for fulfilling the target has been fixed between 2021 and 2030.
“…we have tentatively fixed a US $ 10-US $ 12-billion export target for the leather and leather goods by 2030,” reportedly, underlined Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) Tapan Kanti Ghosh during a view-exchange meeting on leather export outline even as he expressed hope the export target could be achieved by the set time but stressed on the need to increase the volume of foreign direct investment (FDI).
