
The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), which is the apex investment promotion agency in the country, and responsible for promoting and facilitating private investment while also helping overseas investors to invest in the country, has received Joint Venture (JV) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) proposals to the tune of Taka 5,036.50 crore in the January-March period of 2023.
Media reports claimed this while adding the investment proposal in the same period of the previous year was Taka 2,227.87 crore.
According to BIDA’s quarterly report, 231 industrial units, including 11 foreign industries, 206 local industrial units, and 14 joint ventures, have shown interest to invest a total of Taka 16,786.24 crore in the January to March period even if the value of the investment proposals decreased by around 48.59 per cent in the period compared with that of October to December period of the previous year.
