Bangladesh garment exporters, who currently enjoy 4 per cent cash incentive for exports to non-traditional markets, have sought additional 2 per cent cash incentives on apparel exports to Poland and Sweden, as they are being deprived of the facility at present.
Media reports maintained this citing the sources while adding, excluding the UK, EU, USA and Canada, other markets are considered non-traditional even if the garment makers enjoy existing additional cash incentives for shipments to the countries under the EU block as well.
Reports further underlined the country’s apex garment makers’ body the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has also recently requested the government to take steps so that the exporters to Sweden and Poland receive the incentives even as the garment makers have opined they were not getting such special benefits, unlike the exporters to other EU countries.
