With more and more garment exporters in Bangladesh taking to man-made fibres (MMF) while also producing high-end items, there’s a need for more dyeing facilities to cater to the rising demand even if entrepreneurs are not interested to invest in the dyeing industry because of a host of reasons including requirement for large investment, complicated production process, dearth of local experts, etc.
Media reports maintained this citing the industry insiders.
Speaking to the media, Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Monsoor Ahmed, reportedly, said dyeing industry needs a lot of primary capital and is expensive to run effluent and water treatment plants even as Chairman and Managing Director of Mahin Group, Mahmud Mahin, on his part, reportedly, maintained that the entrepreneurs are discouraged from setting up dyeing factories thanks to significant capital requirement, dearth of expertise in the industry and higher chemical prices.
