Fieldsheer, a US-based technology company that produces high-quality, temperature-controlled apparel under the Mobile Warming and Mobile Cooling brands, has announced that it is shipping 1700 pieces of heated clothing to war-torn Ukraine.
The clothing includes heated vests, jackets, socks and gloves which will be distributed to a number of groups, including the Territorial Defense Forces. These units consist of volunteers who signed up at the beginning of the Russian invasion to fight alongside Ukrainian soldiers and are now considered an official part of the Ukrainian army.
The Bluetooth-based apparel will also be distributed to citizens displaced from their homes due to the fighting as well as people from liberated villages who have lost all their possessions. Additionally, it will be provided to volunteers who are physically delivering the items.
Fieldsheer representatives are coordinating this humanitarian effort through the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), established in 1940 to give voice to the Ukrainian-American community.
The need for warm clothing by so many Ukrainians is no surprise, given that millions of people have been left homeless and without basic necessities because of the war. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that country-wide bombing has taken a significant toll on Ukraine’s electric and gas utilities, leaving both soldiers and citizens in extremely harsh conditions.
Tamara Olexy, Executive Director for UCCA, commented, “We’ve had so many companies step up and provide much-needed products and services to the Ukrainian people,” adding, “It is heartening, in the midst of all the suffering, to see the outpouring of selfless aid that is so desperately needed. Fieldsheer has made a particularly significant contribution, given that helping soldiers and displaced citizens stay warm is a top priority. To those who have nothing, warm clothing can literally be lifesaving. Their generosity, as well as that of all our contributors, is a silver lining in a very black cloud.”
John Cacopardo, Chief Revenue Officer for Fieldsheer, believes it’s his company’s duty to help make a positive impact wherever and whenever it can.
“Putting all politics aside, this amounts to helping people who desperately need something vital to their well-being – something that we are capable of providing. Not participating in this effort was not an option. There’s no question the Ukrainian people have a tough road ahead of them. If we as a company can do anything to make that road just a bit smoother, we feel compelled to do it,” commented John.
