A fire at a textile factory in the Solapur region of Maharashtra claimed the lives of three workers on Wednesday 5th July, according to fire officials.
The incident happened at a unit in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) neighbourhood on the Solapur-Akkalkot route, said the officials.
“The fire broke out early morning. Fire tenders and water tankers were immediately rushed to the spot. Upon reaching here, it was learnt that three labourers were stranded in the building. When our firefighters entered the building, they found bodies of three labourers,” a fire officer said.
He claimed that it appears likely that an LPG cylinder that was discovered in a room and used to prepare meals, caused the fire to start.
The police received the remains of the workers, who were from Bihar, and have since submitted them for post-mortem, the officer added.
He said that the blaze was put out after 10 water tankers were sent in total.
