
Coronavirus cases are increasing in Bangladesh again and the Government has imposed strict lockdowns in seven districts, which also include four that are adjacent to the capital Dhaka, while also, reportedly, try and isolate the capital city from the affected districts.
Given the existing scenario, the BGMEA has maintained it was closely monitoring its member readymade garment units to ensure strict enforcement and compliance of the health and safety directives.
Meanwhile, President of the trade body, Faruque Hassan, while interacting with the pressmen maintained BGMEA has decided to conduct more stringent monitoring of apparel manufacturing units keeping in consideration the recent surge in COVID-19 cases even as he said garment factories were strictly adhering to the health directives formulated by the trade body, in light of the recommendations of ILO, Health Ministry and WHO.
Results were satisfactory so far, he further claimed, before going on to add in view of the current situation, if the Government suggests stricter/additional health guidelines, the same will be implemented in the factories as well.
