
Keeping in perspective the rising living cost and spiralling prices of daily commodities, Bangladesh garment workers have called upon the Government to institute a new wage board for them soon.
As per reports, under the aegis of National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF), the garment workers formed a human chain in capital Dhaka recently to press home their demand while underlining they were under ‘dire and miserable circumstances’.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, the President of the Garment Workers Federation Amirul Haque, reportedly, said “We demand the formation of a new wage board for garment workers and a dignified standard of living for workers.”
It may be mentioned here Bangladesh Government set the minimum wage four years ago for workers of the apparel sector of the country.
