A massive seventy-three per cent of the garment workers surveyed, underlined they were in favour of automation since it increased productivity, ensured sustained quality and simplify their work.
This has reportedly been found during a recent survey as carried out by the South Asian Network on Economic Modeling or SANEM, which in collaboration with United States-based non-profit organisation, Microfinance Opportunities, prepared the research report on the quality of life of apparel workers in Bangladesh.
Around 71 per cent of workers however held despite drastic increase in production due to automation their wages had not increased much even if around 66 per cent of workers reportedly maintained it took less time to meet their quota while 29 per cent opined it took about the same time, in spite of a 50-per cent increase in their daily target on average.
