One person was killed and 5 injured in an explosion that took place in a sweater factory in Ashulia, Savar on Tuesday morning, claimed media reports.
A worker of a local readymade garment factory, Rima Khatun (20), reportedly lost her life in the incident.
As per senior station officer of DEPZ Fire Station Jahangir Alam, a wall of the tin-shed structure of Natural Sweater Village collapsed when a gas heater machine of the factory exploded around 7:45 am. The wall fell on Rima, who was walking on an adjacent road, killing her on the spot.
Among the 5 injured are 3 workers of the factory namely Jalil (50), Aiyub Ali (40) and Mahfuza (40), who have been admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital.
