The Government of Maharashtra has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NICDC Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL) to accelerate the digitisation of the state’s logistics sector through the Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP).
According to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the collaboration is intended to enhance visibility across logistics operations, improve coordination among state departments, and strengthen data-driven decision-making through real-time insights. Officials noted that the initiative would play a critical role in streamlining processes and addressing inefficiencies in the sector.
The MoU was formalised during an interactive ULIP workshop organised by the Directorate of Industries, Government of Maharashtra. The event saw participation from representatives of more than ten state departments and focused on identifying ways in which ULIP could address key logistics challenges in the state, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and small exporters.
ULIP functions as a unified digital gateway, providing seamless access to logistics-related data from multiple government systems through API-based integration. The platform currently connects 45 systems across 11 central ministries and departments via 137 APIs, covering over 2,000 data fields. Officials highlighted that the ecosystem has supported the development of more than 240 applications and facilitated over 300 crore API transactions, underscoring its scale and operational robustness.
The workshop also included live demonstrations of NLDSL’s digital solutions, including the Logistics Data Bank (LDB), Koyla Shakti—Smart Coal Analytics Dashboard, Track Your Transport, and the Transport Management System (TMS). Officials stated that these tools illustrate how real-time data can enhance tracking capabilities, improve operational efficiency, and enable more informed decision-making across the logistics value chain.
As part of the agreement, NLDSL will assist the Government of Maharashtra in developing a unified digital platform aimed at increasing transparency in logistics operations. Officials added that the initiative is expected to facilitate faster decision-making and boost the efficiency and global competitiveness of India’s logistics sector, in line with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.
