
The American wedding apparel retailer Brideside has abruptly shut down, much to the shock of all its admirers.
This was confirmed by company Co-founder and CEO Nicole Staple in an e-mail.
With two-thirds of weddings cancelled in 2020 and an uncertain 2021 ahead – all thanks to the wrath of the pandemic – the retailer said that it had to bring an end to its chapter that had started 8 years ago.
The e-mail also said that those customers who had any queries regarding their previous or upcoming orders should contact individual designers as Brideside is no longer in a position to field enquiries.
When Brideside was started in 2012 by Nicole and Sonali Lamba, it was expected to create a stir in wedding apparel industry.
However, wedding retailers have been witnessing slump over the last few years considering lot of Americans have been postponing their wedding lately.
But the pandemic proved to be the final nail in many wedding apparel retailers’ coffin including Brideside.
Even during the pandemic, the retailers have been using the best of technology to stay in touch with brides and their families even as lot of weddings either got cancelled or got shrunk in size.
Besides selling online, Brideside has its stores in Boston, Chicago and New York, amongst others.
It’s definitely not good times for wedding apparel retailers and the abrupt closing down of Brideside could just mark the beginning of the end of many such bridal retailers.
