US-based retail giant Walmart is reportedly launching its own low-priced apparel brands for men, women and kids. It’s not only about introducing brands for the country’s biggest offline retailer, the company is also considering to phase out some of its existing ‘labels’, in a bid to streamline its entire apparel retail business.
Walmart, which is yet to make an official announcement on the same, will reportedly revamp some of its existing clothing lines as well that include Time and Tru for women, Terra & Sky for plus sizes and Wonder Nation for children.
It is also being said that the retail giant will reconfigure its George apparel brand to sell items only for men, while Faded Glory, White Stag and Just My Size labels will be no longer available on its shelves. They may well be made available online but that too is not assured yet.
The reported launch of the new apparel brands seems to be a counter move against its arch-rivals Target and Amazon which too have launched or are further planning to unveil clothing brands to increase earnings from the fashion business. Further, the company aims to ‘cover every aspect of fashion’ but in a more streamlined manner.
As per media reports, 10 per cent of the apparels will focus on the prevailing trends and be refreshed every quarter, while 40 per cent of the collections will be ‘basics’ and stay in the stores for 6-9 months. The remaining 50 per cent that will include tank tops, will last all 365 days.
