Vuori, the athleisure retailer, has set an objective of opening 20 to 25 new stores annually. With its headquarters in California, the company already operates 35 stores across prominent markets like Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, and Boston.
Since the beginning of the year, Vuori has successfully launched 10 new stores and intends to surpass 20 additional store openings by the end of this year. Catherine Pike, the Vice President of Retail at Vuori, shared these expansion plans with Modern Retail.
Vuori, founded in 2015 and achieving profitability in 2017, has recently made substantial investments in expanding its physical presence, primarily driven by a generous $400 million cash injection from Softbank’s Vision Fund 2.
However, she emphasised that this expansion brings forth various challenges. For instance, many retailers that Kondrat collaborates with have nationwide store locations, yet they continue to generate 40 per cent of their total revenue from prominent urban centers such as Los Angeles or New York.
