Secondhand marketplace Vinted has introduced a new Item Verification service to its UK platform, allowing users to access authenticity checks on select designer items.
Buyers pay £ 10 per item for this service, which is available to brands listed at £ 100 or more. These brands will have a diamond-shaped insignia on their product listings.
Subsequently, the item will be delivered to a recently constructed verification hub located in London. There, it will undergo authentication by a team of professionals with training before it is returned to the customer.
The service was launched when Vinted purchased Rebelle, a German luxury resale site, in 2022. Rebelle integrated with Vinted’s team and contributed item verification experience.
In a release, Adam Jay, CEO of Vinted, said, “We understand that authenticity and trust are paramount in the world of online second-hand shopping and we believe this should be accessible to all.”
