The Indian city of Pune has become the first location in the country to house the store of Soul Space, a Kolkata-based organic and Fairtrade-certified fashion brand. The debut store was launched by the brand on Monday (May 21, 2018).
The brand has been retailing its products in India through e-commerce platforms such as Myntra, Jabong and Amazon in addition to its own website.
All the garments of Soul Space are General Organic Textiles Standards (GOTS)- and Fairtrade-certified. It means that the method and materials used in production of clothes, offered by Soul Space, lessen the impact on the environment and does away with pesticides and toxic chemicals.
Further, the sustainable fashion label is now planning to expand its physical store count to 20 by opening stores in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad by fiscal 2019-20. Franchise-based and company-owned stores will be opened by the brand.
“Soul Space gives new generation clothes that tell a new story as they are marching towards a revolution,” Rajat Jaipuria, Director, Living Green Fashions Pvt. Ltd., adding, “The clothing range offered by the brand helps customers to reduce carbon footprint and give back to earth with clothing that is ethically made.”
In view of health hazards for farmers caused due to use of insecticides and pesticides, the brand decided to go for noble cause to help the farmers and spread the message to care of people and the planet by wearing rational fashion.
“Sustainable fashion is about being kind to our environment, sensible with our resources and treating our fellow garment workers like human beings. This means looking at the tag, using what you have and being creative in our wardrobe choices. We believe that all fashion should be made fairly, transparently and ethically,” the Director said.
