Recently, Shein has partnered with Treet to launch its resale program ‘Shein Exchange’ which is currently available to all US customers with plans to expand to other global markets next year.
‘Shein Exchange’ simplifies the resale process by making it easier than ever for sellers to display their things via a seamless interface that pre-populates past Shein transactions.
The company, which has previously been chastised for bad labour practices and fast fashion waste concerns, stated that the trial initiative is part of a ‘bigger commitment to address the ongoing issues of textile waste and establish a more circular future of fashion.’
“The goal of Shein Exchange is to make resale just as easy and convenient as buying something brand new, while also igniting a cultural movement of circularity within our own Shein community. We’re calling on our community to mobilise and keep previously owned clothing in circulation for as long as possible. By harnessing the reach and the influence of our growing community, we believe that shopping resale can become the new normal in our industry,”
said Adam Whinston, global head of ESG at Shein.
