Cornish lifestyle brand Seasalt is to open its first North American store in New England next summer, as part of its growth ambition to roll out 20 locations in the US in the next three years.
June 2024 will see the company’s first US store open in New England under the Seasalt name; up to three more retail locations will be announced the following year. It will concentrate on the northeastern United States, particularly the Eastern Seaboard.
Through its digital offering, the firm claimed to have established “a sizeable customer community” in the US. This growth was reportedly aided by its 2022 launch of an online relationship with US retailer Belk. In addition to launching the brand in many significant brick and mortar locations early next year, Belk will keep selling the brand through its online platforms. In the summer of 2024, a dedicated Seasalt US website will also launch.
In the meantime, Paul Hayes, CEO of Seasalt, has named Jason McNary as consulting director of North America, who will oversee the company’s US expansion.
With the addition of a new location this month in Kenmare, Ireland, Seasalt will have 73 brick and mortar locations worldwide. Over the previous 12 months, the business has established seven additional stores throughout the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand.
It added, however, that the UK will remain a primary focus for the brand and it expects store openings to continue. Hayes said, “We have set our sights firmly on the US market with up to 20 stores planned to open over the next three years.”
