Fashion bigwig Primark has announced that it will be expanding its partnership with recycled cotton producer Recover.
The move makes Primark the first high street retailer to use Recover’s RColorBlend fibre on a global scale with the launch of a new leisurewear range.
Here it is important to state that Recover converts textile waste into recycled fibres and blends.
The RColorBlend is produced by blending Recover’s coloured recycled fibre from textile waste, from factory floor cutting waste or used clothes, with a recycled carrier fibre.
And it’s sustainable too! The accuracy of the colour is achieved by mixing the two types of fibres together, with no additional dyeing treatment and restricted use of water and chemicals.
Made by using recycled cotton and polyester fibre, Primark’s RColorBlend leisurewear line comes with prices ranging from £ 6 for a T-shirt to £ 11 for a sweatshirt.
The retailer will soon launch the new line in its selected stores across 14 of its markets in the US and Europe.
The retailer generated £ 7.79 billion in 2019, and is known for kidswear, womenswear, menswear, homeware and footwear, amongst others.
