Swiss brand Philipp Plein is expanding its lifestyle-oriented Fashion business with a new licensing agreement with Area B for beachwear.
While the brand previously featured in-house beachwear designs, the inaugural collection under this new collaboration is set to debut in Spring 2025.
“For me and my group, it’s been a privilege to get in touch with Area B and admire the quality of their product, manufacturing prowess and pragmatic and effective entrepreneurial approach,” stated designer Philipp Plein in a release.
He expressed his gratitude to his business adviser, Carmine Rotondaro. He added, “The strong relationship Area B has forged over time with suppliers and distributors will be an exceptional support to the diffusion and market success of the creations we’re working on.”
Area B, founded in 1999, holds licenses for various brands such as Iceberg, Bikkembergs and Trussardi and private label clients such as North Sails and Cavalli Class.
The President of Area B group, Federico Venturato, said, “We’re glad about the deal with Philipp Plein and ready to kick off with enthusiasm this adventure of communication, product and distribution.”
He emphasised that Area B’s technical expertise blends with Plein’s design innovation and cutting-edge creativity. He added that “our global distribution network is adamant to receive new products.”
Additionally, Plein has undertaken several initiatives, including restructuring the group’s wholesale and retail channels operations, reinforcing the online strategy, and launching new licences in 2020.
In 2021, the brand unveiled its new headquarters in Milan and released plans to launch the Plein hospitality project in the city.
