PAKA®, a specialist in alpaca fibre apparel, unveiled its latest creation, ‘Performance ¾ Crew Sock’ showcasing an unprecedented use of fine alpaca yarn, delivering a soft and enduring multisport sock.
The Performance ¾ Crew Sock features a snug rib-knit design to eliminate shifting and friction, a breathable mobility mesh at the ankle-to-foot junction for enhanced ventilation, compressive arch support, and targeted extended heel padding for high-impact areas.
Alpaca fibre emerges as a performance marvel, boasting natural odor resistance, moisture-wicking properties, and impressive thermoregulation capabilities.
With an astonishingly low moisture retention rate of 8 per cent in comparison with wool’s average of 18 per cent, alpaca fibre ensures dry, comfortable feet while preventing the moisture and friction buildup that often leads to blisters.
Moreover, alpaca fibres contain a keratin protein with innate antibacterial properties, making these socks virtually odorless.
Kris Cody, PAKA Founder and CEO, remarked, “We wanted to create a versatile performance sock that could stand the test of intense biking, hiking and backpacking. We went all the way back to refining the yarn in Peru, creating a much finer thread count that would knit into a high-compression rib.”
