Here’s a new venture that plans to acquire brands and then scale them into largest retail economies across the globe. The focus, reportedly, will be majorly on China.
That’s what Unified Commerce Group (UCG) is all about!
Formed as a result of a partnership between Dustin Jones, former MD of Fung Retailing Group and Greg Freihofner, senior Vice President, Credit Suisse, UCG has gone ahead and also announced its first acquisition.
UCG has said that it will be acquiring Frank And Oak – the fashion and lifestyle label from Canada.
In addition to investing money, UCG also intends to invest its expertise and experience into every venture it adopts and that includes the aforementioned Canadian fashion brand.
Notably, UCG will be strongly backed by an advisory board that will comprise experienced and reputed experts from the fashion and retail world – including the likes of Terry Lundgren, former Chairman and CEO, Macy’s and Lale Kesebi, Chief Communications Officer, Li & Fung.
In addition to these professionals, there will be Stanley Szeto, Executive Chairman, Lever Style and also Chinese supermodel Bonnie Chen.
UCG also said that it will focus on brands that are driven by a purpose, are digitally advanced and have a large appeal across the world.
It believes that the Canadian fashion brand, which UCG has acquired, perfectly blends style, design and technology – offering exquisite collections of apparels and accessories for men and women.
UCG has its headquarters in New York and plans to have offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai too.
