British clothing retailer Marks & Spencer, or M&S, intends to buy the British heritage fashion label Jaeger. And if that won’t work, the retailer may enter into a partnership with the brand’s new owner.
Edinburgh Woollen Mill (EWM) Group, which owns Jaeger, was recently granted extension of another 2 weeks by the High Court to continue discussion with prospective buyers.
Initially M&S was, reportedly, in talks to stock Jaeger products in the former’s stores as a part of its apparel business strategy, but there have been some development ever since.
The retailer is now in informal talks with the Group to buy Jaeger or enter into a deal with the new owners.
Here it is important to note that few years back, when the EWM Group had acquired Jaeger, M&S was a close bidder.
Back in October 2020, the Group had said that it would go broke if it did not appoint administrators.
Notably, several retailers like Frasers Group, Next as well as Torque Brands have shown interest lately to acquire Jaeger. Now who finally wins it needs to be seen!
