John Lewis names Andrew Murphy as new CIO

UK-based John Lewis Partnership, which operates John Lewis department stores and Waitrose supermarkets, has announced the appointment of Andrew Murphy as its next Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective February 1, 2018.

Currently, Murphy is associated with the company as Group Productivity Director. He will succeed Paul Coby who is set to bid adieu to the company in April 2018 after almost seven years of association. Coby is considered as the creator of IT strategies at John Lewis.

Sir Charlie Mayfield, Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, said that Paul’s contribution has helped the company to change its business into a leading omni-channel retailer.

Murphy started working at John Lewis in 1992 and held various roles in the company such as MD of John Lewis Aberdeen and MD of John Lewis Edinburgh.

He later served as Director, Operational Development before becoming the Retail Director, John Lewis in 2010. In 2015, he became the Group Productivity Director.

The John Lewis Partnership operates 49 John Lewis shops across the UK, johnlewis.com, 352 Waitrose shops, waitrose.com and business to business contracts in the UK and abroad.
