
Alcis Sports – a sportswear brand owned by Indian apparel company Paragon Apparel that has the official rights to sell FIFA World Cup 2018 merchandise in India – has inked a deal with India’s biggest e-commerce company Flipkart to retail products online.
Apart from Flipkart, the merchandise will be available in all of the five exclusive outlets of Alcis Sports and in large format retail outlets like Shoppers Stop, Lifestyle, Central, Globus and Sports Station, etc.
The athleisure brand has the rights to sell in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal as well apart from India.
Speaking exclusively to Apparel Resources, Roshan Baid, Managing Director, Alcis Sports, shares that the brand trusted Flipkart for this venture because it has the largest customer pool in India.
The MD mentioned that football has been a popular sports in India and after the nation hosted U-17 FIFA World Cup last year, the popularity among the Indian sports enthusiasts has increased further.
Notably, FIFA World Cup 2018 is one of the most-awaited global events and Alcis Sports is expecting a positive response from the Indian football fans.
“We are expecting a retail business of around Rs. 6-7 crores out of this deal and with the global event just a couple of weeks away, we thought, this is the perfect time to introduce the products to the customers,” Baid apprised Apparel Resources.
The Noida-based apparel brand is introducing an exclusive range of over 550 articles for the soccer fans that includes t-shirts, jerseys, shorts, track pants and tracksuits.
Alcis Sports is providing a chance for football fans to cheer and encourage their favourite teams with nation-specific merchandise – England, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Portugal, France, Uruguay and Sweden.
On being asked about the price bracket for the products, Baid told us that the range starts from Rs. 399 and goes up to Rs. 999 for T-shirts, while for the tracksuits the price will go up slightly.
Additionally, talking on the similar ventures, if any, in the coming time, Baid informed us, “We have also partnered with Star Sports (a network of Indian sports channels owned by Star India) for a Kabaddi event which begins next month where we will sponsor every required accessory.”
